UBC Properties Trust Website blurs the border between Flash and HTML Websites by using CSS and JavaScript inside Flash. This method allowed better typography and a more interactive interface in a Website that typically is built in HTML due to high volume of text content. Flash content is stored in XML to ease Website maintenance and then parsed on client side (E4X) and server side (XSLT) to generate both Flash and non-Flash content (for SEO). To keep file sizes to minimum (less than 15kb) all Flash assets such as images and fonts are kept in external files that are shared by all pages.

Chateau Ste. Michelle: My Cellar & My Pairings

My Pairings and My Cellar are two Web-based applications that help novice and seasoned wine enthusiasts record their favorite wines, and inspire them to make new discoveries. The first application is "My Pairings" which serves as a digital sommelier and provides insightful food and wine pairing recommendations. Complementing this tool is "My Cellar" which is a searchable wine diary. Users create an online library of their favorite wines, when they enjoyed them, what they paired them with, and other tasting notes. Both applications detect user's browsing device and offer custom interface for PC, iPhone and Blackberry creating a better user experince.

Couverdon Real Estate

Couverdon is the real estate business of TimberWest Forest Corp., the largest private landowner in western Canada. A Flash-based map marks parcels of land in Vancouver Island sold by TimberWest. The map pulls the land data from a XML file that TimberWest can update to keep the map information current. The map automatically resizes itself to fit visitor's screen resolution.

Panago Pizza

Panago Pizza is a successful Canadian pizza chain founded more than 20 years ago that operates over 160 stores in BC, Alberta, Sasktachewan, Manitoba and Ontario. The Website redesigned and built in XML and Flash uses an intuitive navigation that allows easy access to menus, products, store locations, and 100s of recipes.

Canon e-Support Center

Canon e-Support provides Technical Support, Service, Documentation, Warranty, and Educational Information services to Authorized Canon Dealers, Servicers, and Select Account Customers of Canon Digital Imaging Products.

Kenyon Square

Kenyon Square is a luxury condominium community located in Washington DC. Axis, a leading creative agency based in Washington DC, re-designed the Kenyon Square Website. The Website uses a simple Content Management System for updating content and unit availability information which are stored in the database. All pages validate as XHTML Strict.

UBC Virtual Campus Tour: Vancouver

UBC Virtual Campus Tours (Vancouver & Okanagan) are two recently launched Websites built for University of British Columbia in Canada. The XML-driven Websites allow users step into the shoes of students and explore Vancouver and Okanagan campuses by using interactive maps or taking the guided photo tours. Each website features student videos and photo slideshows to convey what each campus looks like and what is there to do on campus.

Bosa Properties

Bosa Properties is one of the Canada's most respected development and construction firms, and has developed some of the nation's finest communities and urban villages. The website uses a javascript-based project map to display various Bosa properties at differet development stages and direct users to property specific page or external site.

CipherLab

CipherLab Website is built on MS SQL on backend and uses XSL transformations to output XHTML Strict markup from XML pages. All content and navigation in the Website is dynamic, updated via content management system. The website is fully localizable and is already available in five languages. The front-end layer uses CSS for presentation, external JavaScript for additional behavior, and Flash for animations.

The Website uses SWFAddress to allow deep linking and to avoid breaking browser's back/forward buttons. All Flash content is loaded from XML and parsed using E4X and then styled inside Flash using an external CSS.
